Housing Action Day is going transnational: protests announced in more than 50 cities and 13 European countries

The Housing Action Day, scheduled for March 28, 2020, was one of the main topics at the meeting of the European Action Coalition which took place in Hondarríba, Spain between January 15-19, 2020.

Around 50 activists gathered to organize shared action, exchange experience and, utlimately, to prepare the Housing Action Day 2020.

The slogan ‘Housing for People, not for profit’ was adopted by many organizations because it delivers a universal message everybody can identify with, even if different European housing markets create largely diverse circumstances.

Joining organizations from German cities are partners from Bucharest, Belgrade, Barcelona, Bruxelles, Budapest, Cluj, San Sebastián, Glasgow, Lisbon, Madrid, Porto, Prag, Zagreb, Athens and Nicosia.

In France alone, where the semi-annual winter eviction ban ends in March, 22 cities intend to participate. More cities are still planning to join.

We stand united for a succesful European Action Day on March 28, 2020.

(The European Action Coalition for the Right to Housing and to the City was established in 2013 by a variety of groups fighting against evictions and for the Right to the City. Today groups of different sizes and organizational structures from 20 countries are members of the Coalition. They work together with people affected by evictions, displacement or other symptoms of the housing crisis.)
